Netflix Is Set To Release 90 Original Movies Per Year, With Budget Up To $200 Million
Currently, Netflix is the king of the streaming market. And to stay like that, Netflix is planning to release 90 original movies in a single year. The budget of one movie can even be around $200 million.
Netflix has decided to take this step because of many other streaming services available in the market and for the new upcoming streaming services next year. And by putting a statement like this they are directly warning the competitors.
Scott Stuber, Chief of Netflix, was on an interview with The New York Times. Where he revealed that Netflix will be providing a total of 90 original films (includes 55 original films, animated movies, and documentaries) in a year. Even the budget of one movie can go up to $200 million. Here’s what he said:
“Mr. Stuber’s operation is set up to supply 55 original films a year, including some with budgets as high as $200 million. Add in documentaries and animated movies, handled by other divisions, and the number of annual Netflix film releases climbs to about 90. To compare, Universal, one of Hollywood’s most prolific traditional studios, releases roughly 30 movies a year.”
Netflix even lost few shows this year like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil. Other than this Netflix has to also deal with the competitors like Hulu, Amazon Prime, DC Universe, and the new upcoming Disney + next year, which will definitely gain an audience upon launch.
But, if Netflix will produce good original content then they will have no trouble in remaining at the top.
