Avatar which changed the landscape of Hollywood after it’s release. Will be back with its second part next year. And not just with one part with 4 more sequels to the film.
While the film featured Sam Worthington in the lead role as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana as Neytiri. But what if tell you Chris Evans was the first choice of director James Cameron to play the lead role as Jake Sully.
James Cameron recently appeared on the Empire Podcast. Where he talked about many things. But one thing which caught the eye of everyone was when he revealed about the casting process of Avatar and why Chris Evans or Channing Tatum weren’t selected for the role.
“Chris Evans, and Sam, and Channing Tatum. That was my choice. I really liked Channing’s appeal. I liked Chris’ appeal. They were both great guys. But Sam had a quality of voice and a quality of intensity. Everybody did about the same on all the material through the script, except for the final speech where he stands up and says, ‘This is our land, ride now, go as fast as the wind can carry you.’ That whole thing. I would have followed him into battle. And I wouldn’t have followed the other guys. They’ve since gone onto fantastic careers and all that, but Sam was ready. He was ready,” he said.
Well, we have to say everything worked in everyone’s favor. Because if Chris Evans would have been selected for the role. Then we would have never been able to see Chris Evans in the role of Captain America.
Avatar was the film of James Cameron life. He had spent many years of his life to get the project done. And now we can even say that his hard work is paying off. As Avatar currently holds the record for highest-grossing film of all time.
Avatar 2 is set to release on December 18, 2020. And the returning cast members include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Joel David Moore, with newcomers Edie Falco, Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin and David Thewlis to the franchise.
